Tires are one of the most important decisions you'll make for a truck that actually gets used. The right tire for how you drive — whether that's daily commuting on I-80, weekend runs through the Sierras, hunting access roads in the high desert, or all of the above — affects handling, traction, noise, and how long the tires last. We carry the brands that perform in Northern Nevada conditions and we back every set with free rotation for life.

Free Rotation for Life

Every tire set purchased and installed at Custom Truck Accessories comes with free rotation for the life of the tires. Bring it back whenever you need it — no appointment required, no charge. Regular rotation is the single most effective thing you can do to extend tire life and maintain even tread wear, especially on lifted trucks where alignment changes can accelerate wear on specific tires.

Nitto

Nitto is one of the most popular choices in the truck tire segment and for good reason. The Ridge Grappler sits at the intersection of all-terrain and mud terrain — aggressive enough for real off-road use, quiet enough for daily driving. The Trail Grappler is their more aggressive mud terrain option for serious off-road builds. Both are consistently well-reviewed for durability and the Ridge Grappler's sidewall styling has made it one of the best-looking tires in the segment.

Toyo

Toyo's Open Country lineup covers the full range from highway to mud terrain. The AT III is a versatile all-terrain that handles Northern Nevada's mix of pavement, gravel, and occasional snow well. The RT (Rugged Terrain) and MT (Mud Terrain) options step up the off-road capability for builds that spend more time on dirt than pavement. Toyo tires are well-regarded for wear life and consistent performance.

BFGoodrich

BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires are arguably the most proven all-terrain tire on the market — they've been standard equipment on expedition vehicles and overlanding builds for years. Known for cut resistance, durability in harsh conditions, and reliable traction across mixed terrain. If you're planning any serious backcountry driving in the Eastern Sierra or Great Basin, KO2s are worth the price.

Falken

Falken's Wildpeak lineup offers strong value for buyers who want capable all-terrain or mud terrain performance without the premium price of the flagship brands. The AT3W is particularly well-regarded for its winter performance and 3PMSF certification — meaningful if your truck sees any Sierra Nevada winter use.

Maxxis

Maxxis builds tires that are popular across the overlanding and off-road segments. Their Razr AT and Razr MT offer aggressive tread patterns and solid durability for trucks that spend significant time on dirt.

Choosing the Right Tire

All-terrain (AT) tires balance on-road manners with off-road capability. For most Northern Nevada truck owners who drive pavement daily and hit dirt roads occasionally, an AT tire is the right choice. Highway tires are quieter and wear longer but sacrifice off-road traction. Mud terrain (MT) tires are built for serious off-road use — they're louder on pavement, wear faster in highway use, and are the right choice if your truck spends significant time on technical terrain.

Sizing matters too, especially if you're lifted. We'll help you find the right diameter and width for your lift height, your fender clearance, and whether you need a wheel spacer for the fitment to work correctly.

Mounting and Balancing

We mount and balance all tires we sell at both locations. Proper mounting and balancing is as important as the tire itself for achieving smooth, even wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to re-gear my axles if I go to larger tires?

It depends on how much larger. Going up one size (e.g. from 265 to 275) typically has minimal impact. Going up significantly — say from a 265 to a 35-inch tire — changes your effective gear ratio and can noticeably affect acceleration, towing performance, and fuel economy. We'll talk through the implications for your specific truck and intended use.

How often should I rotate my tires?

Every 5,000 to 7,000 miles is the standard recommendation, though more frequent rotation helps on lifted trucks where alignment angles can accelerate wear. With free rotations for life, there's no reason not to stay on schedule.

Can I mix tire brands or models on the same truck?

We don't recommend mixing tire models on a 4WD truck — different tread patterns and diameters create uneven inputs to the drivetrain that can cause binding and premature wear on transfer case and differential components. If you need to replace one tire, matching the existing model is strongly preferred.
